My 2nd 5 minutes of fame :-)

Well no one was more surprised than me when my neighbour was telling me that my general manager was in the local paper! I asked if I could see the paper and once she had rescued it from the recycling I was gob-smacked. The photograph that accompanied the article was mine!

I had taken the photograph at the opening of a local charity shop which my general manager attended. I went along to take photographs for our store magazine.

The funny thing is, I wasn't too confident to push my way to the front of the professional photographers. So i decided to capture the back of the papps and i've captured the real feel of the event.

I will scan the article in very soon - yay me :-)

My five minutes of fame :-)

I was approached by a wonderful lady earlier this year who had spotted a photo of my dog Joe. She contacted me as she was putting together a website of photographs and quotes, a kind of collection of literature relating to man's relationship with animals.

I was very honored and thrilled to be able to help as I loved the idea of her concept plus I was so excited that a photo of my favourite animal would be used.

After some time and just as i was forgetting all about it, I received a mail to say the site is up and running :-)

My 1st Photography assignment :-)

Well this week I've had my very first photography assignment and it was brilliant :-)

It was a Battle of the Bands audition through my work and I was asked to photograph the final leg of the search for the best band.

The venue was the Hard Rock Cafe, Manchester and I was so worried about the lighting etc but the results were pretty good for a first attempt.

More to come....

365 Project - June 2010

Another month and I am determined to get through this one with no technical interruptions etc!!

It has become so apparent to me just how much I love flowers and can't seem to get away from having to photograph them, I must try and be more creative with my subjects!

365 Project - May 2010

I've been quiet due to a variety of reasons but mainly the fact that my Nikon D40x has failed me :-( The replacement lens I bought is very hard work and the 55-200 lens I really don't like using and would never buy one of those ever again!

I am really disappointed this month as I have a mere 7 photos to show for May 2010 :-( I have therefore decided I will catch up these days and continue into January 2011. I will not be beat :-)

Well the good news is that, thanks to my husband Leigh, I'm back in the saddle and armed with my new weapon of choice, a Canon EOS 500d :-)

plus this:

I'm very happy with my new toys so far and can't wait to get stuck into using them :-) Watch this space...

The Dream

It is the kids Easter holidays and I had been thinking of a way to entertain my daughter while still being able to take advantage of a Photography session myself :-)

And then I had it, the Dream. A sculpture by Spanish Artist Jaume Piensa. It is sited on the old slag heap of Sutton Manor Colliery and can be seen from the M62. It really is something.

365 Project - April 2010

Another month and it's still as challenging as ever. I don't particularly find the photo taking the challenge, it's the editing/uploading that takes the time :-) Still enjoying it though and learning so much :-)

My T189 results

Well after a very long wait, the results are in and I am thrilled :-)

Yes I have a 87% pass result and I can't believe it. But the question is, what next?

A new course :-)

I have just signed up for Practical Photography’s free DSLR Skills Course and WOW what a course. It is going to be a challenge as it will be covering the technical elements of Photography, which are all the bits I dread the most, but I can't put it off any longer :-S Wish me luck, I'm going to need it :-)

365 Project - March 2010

It is the start of a new month and only 10 more months until the 365 project is complete! I can't believe I have stuck to this so far, as it is quite time consuming and I have fallen behind a couple of times along the way already. I am so glad I have struggled through it though as I am learning all the time and the cons definitely out weigh the pros.

A trip to see Monsieur Mickey Mouse

A girls trip to Disneyland Paris gave me a great opportunity to take an enormous variety of photographs and all of them of my favourite subjects, my daughter and Disney.

365 Project - February 2010

I have a feeling that this month is going to be much better as I have a fully working Nikon DSLR with two lovely new lenses. I am still finding it a juggle with work and home life commitments but I will stick at it, I just need to get quicker with my editing.

Now refresh my memory,

The 365 Project - January 2010

Ah now this has to be my ultimate challenge so far. The project involves taking a Photograph, editing and uploading it onto Flickr everyday for the year! Yes, I know I must be mad but surprisingly I am really enjoying it and it is definitely challenging my Photography skills.
